Halloween... The Day After...

Remember this post about selling all of the kids' Halloween candy? Well we did it again this year, and this year it was ALL THEIR IDEA! Yep! Big A's kept telling everyone he was going to sell all of his candy because candy is so unhealthy! I have NO idea where he got THAT idea! Clearly not something *I* preach to him! HA!

The kids dumped all of the candy out on the table and sorted it into two buckets, the keep bucket and the sell bucket. After the first round of sorting, the keep bucket was overflowing and the sell bucket had.... Well.... A drop in the bucket. I told them that I couldn't drive them all the way to the dentist's office to sell that tiny bit of candy and asked them if they wanted to sort it again. They did.

They dumped all of the keep bucket candy back out on the table and sorted again. At the end of round two both buckets were about half full and I once again told them that I couldn't drive all the way to the dentist's office for half a bucket of candy (Makes me look kind of mean after seeing kids show up there with sandwich size Ziploc bags full... What's the use? I'd pay my kid a dollar before driving all the way there for THAT!).

On to round three! They dumped the keep bucket once again and this time got rid of basically everything but the M&M's and the plain Hershey's and maybe a few odds and ends of randoms. With the sell bucket practically full, I agreed to take them to the dentist's office, so off we went!

The candy was weighed and there was almost five pounds! The staff divided it into two buckets so both kids could have a turn dumping candy in the giant dumpster...

Then we went inside to collect our cash and our FREE Applebee's kids meal certificates, scope out the free goodies (toothbrushes, toothpaste, stickers, bouncy balls, bracelets, etc.), and enter the drawing for the new bike (and other fun goodies).

*UPDATED 11/2 - They called this morning (Tuesday) to let us know that Big A won a free pizza! Really? Five dollars, free toothbrushes and toothpaste, free kids meals at Applebee's and now a free pizza? How can we NOT do this every year?!?! It's like paying us to trick-or-treat!

The A's favorite part of the whole trip is the jumpy. Little A told me ALL day about how afraid she was last year but this year she'd go down the slide, and slide she did! About 15 times, to be exact!

We finished up with face painting, and headed home sporting flowers and ladybugs and an orange and black "SF"!

On the way home I got a text from a friend inviting us to a little "Go Giants" get together at her house. Free food and good friends, who could turn THAT down?

We spent the rest of the evening hanging out, eating, watching baseball and celebrating the Giants' World Series victory (Well.... Most of us were celebrating...). The kids had a BLAST! Thanks for the invites, Schmitts! We love you guys!
