Draggy Ann And Baba... The Day After..

I think the day after Halloween for most kids is like an adult having a hang over... Unfortunately for my kids, that was not the case! With the exception of the ONE lollipop Little A had after lunch, they have not had a single piece of their Halloween candy. Is that a sin or something???

Today started out with the Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Jack-O-Lantern pancakes we were SUPPOSED to have yesterday morning. You see, daddy wasn't home yesterday morning so we decided to wait for him to enjoy them with us (well that, and the kids decided that donuts were a better Saturday morning breakfast than pumpkin pancakes, even if said pancakes DID have chocolate chips in them!).

After breakfast we went to church then came home and had MORE
monster fingers for lunch, started the chicken and dumplings for dinner (yes, I've been a cooking FOOL this weekend!) and headed to Santa Rosa to 'sell' our Halloween candy to Dr. Steve. You see, Dr Steve pays a dollar a pound for the candy, AND gives you a free toothbrush! I don't know about you, but I don't need 12 pounds of candy sitting around the house so this was a much better alternative!

It was really cool! They have decorations all over, a dumpster for the candy, a HUGE fire truck bounce house slide, face painting, the tooth fairy, etc. We pulled into the parking lot and Big A shouted, "MOMMY! You didn't tell me there was a CARNIVAL here!"

It was all SO organized! You walk up to a table where they have you put your candy on a scale (ours was in a bucket... Is that cheating?). Once the candy is weighed they give you a slip of paper with your name and phone number on it as well as how many pounds of candy you 'sold' (we had 7 lbs.) and then you walk over to the giant dumpster and dump it in.

Big A and Little A checking out all the candy...

They said they get upwards of 1,400 lbs per year!

After disposing of your candy you head inside the office where they take your ticket (which doubles as a raffle ticket), pay you, and send you to the back of the office where you are free to dig through boxes of toothbrushes, flossers, toothpaste samples, stickers, little toys, etc., and take whatever you want. I think we left with almost as much in our bucket as we came with! Okay... Not quite, but you get the point!
And finally... What the kids had been waiting for since we pulled into the parking lot... THE JUMPY SLIDE AND FACE PAINTING!!

A good time was had by all! And you know what? They haven't even ASKED about the candy! Score another one for Mommy!
Okay... Now it's off to bed so I can prepare for the next holiday! I just realized today I have less than THREE WEEKS to plan Big A's birthday party! YIKES! Next on my list? Invitations!
