The End Of A GREAT Soccer Season

This was Big A's second year of outdoor soccer in the under six division, and let me tell you... What a difference a year makes! Remember this post from a year ago about Big A's lack of enthusiasm when it came to soccer? He was excited to play, but once he got on the field he was MORE excited to watch the grass grow and the airplanes fly by overhead.

This year was 100% different! He was there, he was active, and he played HARD, especially on Saturdays. I know that sounds funny, but it's the truth. Thursday nights all of the kids were dragging (though they still played hard), but on Saturday mornings they were fresh and ready to go! Unlike last year, Big A even scored goals! One game he scored 4 goals, was named player of the game and took home the game ball. Talk about proud!

Another huge difference this year was the coach. The coach was there to have fun. He taught the kids stuff and worked hard with them, but the kids also liked him and had fun with him. To me, that is an important balance. All of the parents on the team are pushing him hard to continue on next year coaching the under 8's. I sure hope he does!

Lined up, and ready to play!

Waiting for the kick

Having fun with his teammates! Spirit tunnel at the end of our last game (longest tunnel all season!)

Coach Kieran talking to the boys at the end of the season pizza party

Coach Kieran making a speech about Big A before giving him his trophy

All of the kids LOVE Coach Kieran!!

Big A loved his team and his coach and this season SO much, he actually cried as we were leaving the end of the season party. I hope next year is at least as successful, if not more!

What a difference a year makes!!!!He is growing up and the time will pass so fast in a few years you will wonder where all of the years went. Enjoy each day, week, month and year. From now on it will be hard to keep up with it all. Love you all
