Adventures On Lake Siskiyou

More cabin fun!

On Saturday we headed over to
Lake Siskiyou Resort and Camp to check it out and play in the lake. It was really neat! The resort has a HUGE beach with a roped off swimming area and separate splash park (costs money, but looks fun!), a marina with boat rentals, over 200 campsites including RV sites with full hook-ups, cabins, a few playgrounds (we saw at least three), a grocery store, a snack bar, a laundry room, and even pizza restaurant that will deliver pizza to your campsite until 9pm. It's like a little mini-city there!

We didn't get there until almost 5pm, just enough time to let the kids (and B and Grandpa) swim for awhile while Grandma and I saw on the beach and watched them and sipped lemonade and diet coke and then drive through the resort to check it out.

"Spin us, Daddy!"
"I'm F-F-F-FREEZING!"
Warming up on Grandma's lap
"Where are you, Mom?"

Sunday Grandpa and B took the kids back to the lake while Grandma and I relaxed at the cabin (post coming soon!!!). We sent them off with a bag full of snacks, hats, sunscreen, sweatshirts and towels. It was on the cooler side that day, so I told the kids I didn't want them swimming as the waters are VERY cold in the area and I didn't want to risk getting them sick. Instead they rented a little boat and went fishing.

They toured around the lake and tried their luck at fishing (I'm sure there are pictures on Grandpa's camera, but I don't have them yet) but were unsuccessful. I'm not sure why, with a 3 and 5 year old, four hooks, four poles, lines everywhere, snacks everywhere, a small boat, a big lake, a dropped anchor... But yeah... No fish.

They were headed back to the marina when the motor stopped on their boat (This seems to be a common thing when fishing with my dad as the same thing happened to us while fishing on Lake Shasta a few years back.). Grandpa called the marina to let them know they were stranded and then started trying to figure out what was wrong with the motor. He determined it must be something in the gas line and figured out that if he hand pumped some little bulb by hand, he could make the boat run.

They were almost back to the marina when the marina people returned his call saying they were leaving to 'rescue' them but by then there was no point. They made it safely back to the marina and all was well with the exception of one dropped cell phone which now rests peacefully at the bottom of Lake Siskiyou.
