School Sunday

This past Sunday was School Sunday at our church meaning that kids from the school sing at the beginning of the service. School Sunday happens twice a year and if it weren't for School Sunday, we probably would not have rediscovered our faith or become members of our church. Yes, it's true. It took our then 3 year old son to bring us to church!

B and I had had multiple discussions over the years about church and faith and our desire to be part of a church. We even talked about which church we'd like to attend but our schedules are such that to commit to going to church felt like we were giving up the final portion of our weekend so kept discussing it but never acted on it. Then one day Big A brought a note home from school that asked all of the kids to be at church at a certain time on a certain day to sing in church... School Sunday.

We invited the grandparents, showed up as requested, Big A sang, we felt welcomed, we loved the pastor and the rest as they say, is history. The kids and I were baptized, we joined the church, Big A has taken his First Communion classes and has received his First Communion and we've become very active and involved. We have now been members of our church for just over a year, B is prepping for his second Mexico Mission trip and I am gearing up for my second year directing the pre-school portion of our VBS program. We've come to realize that attending church is NOT like giving up the final portion of our weekend, but rather it's something we do as a family every week and is a great start to the week ahead.

And all this because of School Sunday! So with that... Here are a few pictures from the most recent School Sunday, Big A's fourth and Little A's first!

The kids sang two songs. The first one was sort of a 'rock out' song as evidenced by the way Big A is jumping around. The second one was called "Jesus Sees".
