Burglars, Best Friends And Blue Grass

*SIGH* What a day! Walked outside this morning, took one look at the van and wondered to myself, "Hmmm... I wonder how we set the alarm last night with Little A's door not closed all the way."

Big A had run ahead of us and was already at the van door. "MOM! Somebody broke your door!"
"BIG A! STEP BACK! DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING!" Somebody had broken into our van. We realized immediately that they'd stolen our GPS and the DVD players and after calling the police and taking a few minutes to calm ourselves and the kids down, we reassessed the situation. They hadn't taken anything else but they'd completely destroyed the driver door and locking mechanisms....

AND they'd made us late for breakfast... Which leads me to the next item in the post title, BEST FRIENDS!

It was GREAT to see some old friends this weekend... They'd come down for Schmittoberfest and as per our usual tradition when they come down, we ate breakfast at our favorite local breakfast place. We never get to spend enough time with them when they're here, but it's always wonderful to see them. We miss them SO much!

After breakfast, pictures, hugs and tears, B left for work, the kids went back to Grandma and Grandpa's and I headed back to San Francisco to see my dad.

He was looking good, moving around the room by himself, and was even able to talk but he was also very tired. I visited for a couple hours and then left to eat dinner with the kids and my cousins at my parents house.

Julianna and Nate recently moved closer to us and it was great to have them come up for the night. They spent yesterday with us at Schmittoberfest and today they enjoyed playing with my kids (Or at least my kids enjoyed playing with them!). After dinner Nate took the kids out and let them play the guitar. They LOVED it! And you know what? He's not too bad himself!

Van mishap aside, it turned out to be a pretty good weekend. We hope we'll be able to see our friends and cousins again soon! We miss them already!
